Does Rosli Dhobi a murderer or a hero?


Even though his action towards the incident was aggressive but, most of people know that he really and sincerely tried to help his country and all citizens to be free from the hand of the British. But still, there are also some people who tried to ignore what he did and state him as a murderer and not a hero. His action somehow had been summarize as a hero of Sarawak and his history will remain appear in his country and will be an example of all people in other state in Malaysia and Sabah. 
The Death Sentence

After a few months sitting in the prison, Rosli Dhobi, Awang Ramli Ahmit Mohd Deli, Morshi Sidek and Bujang Suntong was found guilty and sentenced to death on December 4, 1949. Rosli Dhoby was sent to the gallows on the morning of March 2, 1950. After the death of him, the body of Rosli Dhoby was not allowed to the Kuching Central Prison. After Sarawak gains their freedom on July 22, 1963, Rosli Dhobi was rested at Sarawak Islamic Museum in Kuching after the retirement of his remains in 1996. 

The Tragedy Begin
















                                         

Rosli Dhobi was a strong, brave, mature and independent young man. During his time, he was also known as brilliant and charismatic students in his school. Moreover, because he have a high level of patriotism to brake Sarawak free from colonization, he and been choose by Rukun 13 when his Bujang Suntong, his friend introduce Rosli Dhobi to the secret organization (Rukun 13) in August 1948. During the time in December 3, 1949, Sir Duncan George Stewart, the second governor of Sarawak was murdered by Rosli Dhobi. On that particular moment, Rosli Dhobi, Awang Ramli Amit Mohd Deli, Morshidi Sidek and Bujang Suntong was with the crowd to celebrate Sir George Duncan Stewart who came to Sarawak. When the time comes, Morshidi begin to pretend to take photo of the governor using broken camera. After a few second, Rosli started to stab the governor using the poisonous dagger that he kept inside a small three near the area. Later than everyone started to panic and even Rosli and Morshidi and another of his friend wanted to ran away but the guards quickly grab all of them. The governor than bleed so badly had been sent back to Kuching for a treatment, and later on, they brought him to Singapore to gain full and complete treatment. After a week later the governor died because of the deep stabbing.

Why they Choose Rosli Dhobi to Enter Rukun 13


Rosli Dhobi was known as a person who has a great passion on education. Mostly in Bahasa. Moreover, due to his enthusiasm on learning new things, he had become a person who is respected because of his knowledge, attitude and grace towards other people. Reading is essential for a person in changing their minds and behavior to someone who much more mature. Thus, this has also affected the way he thinks about things. He started to think that he as a Sarawak people who had been colonize by the British second Gabenor sir Duncan Steward is something which he and Rukun 13 need to stop. Hence, when he had his passion towards education and his own states, he himself had develop an attitude where he became strong, and heroic where he cause himself a big trouble on killing sir Duncan Steward during his visit to Sarawak and its people. That is why, even though Rosli Dhobi was only 16 years old on that particular moment, he somehow had been chosen to enter the Rukun 13 as they see him s a unique and wise young man.

By Who Rukun 13 Being Conducted




Rukun 13 was establish on 1947 during the colonization of the British empire. The group was conducted exactly by 13 person which include:

During that time, they started to realize that their group was not just a group. The rukun 13 also known as ’13 rukun solat’. Since then, this group starting to recite an oath which they will always make Al-Quran as a guide, always obey to Allah, and always follow our prophet (peace be upon him), obey to the country and fight for countries right. Moreover, after the oath was ended, they recite yaasin for the water and drank it. This was a group which will stand forward without fear to get their right as a Sarawak who deserve a peaceful leaving.
